BikeSafe workshops are being run by Leicestershire Police. All of the officers assisting on BikeSafe are Police Class 1 Advanced riders from the forces motorcycle section and accredited for delivery of BikeSafe workshops.
The whole purpose of BikeSafe is to reduce casualties among bikers by passing on tips and knowledge, to give you an insight to safer, smoother riding, and a heightened awareness of possible hazards. It is our hope that BikeSafe will encourage you to progress to formal training in the future.
BikeSafe workshop content
Your BikeSafe workshop will start at 9am (please arrive for 8.45, you will be directed to FHQ reception). Firstly, introductions, a brief document and bike check. The National BikeSafe interactive DVD will be played and various disciplines of riding will be discussed. This will take until about 11.00am. You will then take to the road for an observed ride with an advanced rider. There will be numerous stops where debriefing will take place and the chance for a cup of tea! We will call at a cafe for refreshments around midday.
Once back at Police headquarters (late afternoon) you will receive structured feedback with advice on areas for development and also where to find approved trainers. At present the cost of a workshop includes lunch, which has to be great value for money.
