West Yorkshire BikeSafe

West Yorkshire Police is committed to improving riding standards amongst motorcyclists, both in our county and further afield. The provision of police-led BikeSafe workshops supports our ‘Vision Zero’ ambitions, whilst ensuring that we contribute to upskilling as many motorcyclists as possible. Given that motorcyclists continue to feature disproportionately in our West Yorkshire injury collision figures, the provision of BikeSafe workshops is especially important as we work towards improving attitude, observation, cornering, overtaking, filtering, junctions, group riding, hazard awareness and utilisation of the system of motorcycle control. West Yorkshire BikeSafe is hosted by Police Advanced Motorcyclists in a relaxed environment with the emphasis on developing key skills around riding and safety.

PS Andrew Johnson West Yorkshire BikeSafeWelcome to West Yorkshire BikeSafe. In 2023 we join the national BikeSafe community in support of improving rider standards and safety. I have been a motorcyclist for over 25 years and a Police motorcyclist for more than 18 years. I have competed in many off road events at a local and national level. Within the Police I have been fortunate to have been involved in the Tour de France when it visited Leeds and several Tour de Yorkshire events as well as many Royal family and VIP escort duties. I look forward to seeing some of you at a West Yorkshire BikeSafe workshop – PS Andy Johnson, West Yorkshire Police.
