Goal of doing an advanced riding course
I also set a goal of progressing my skills to an advanced level
My name is Joseph, I’m coming up to 30 years old with less than two years riding experience. After passing my Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), followed straight away by Direct Access Course training and full motorcycle test, I purchased my first motorcycle. As well as using my motorcycle for everyday commuting to work, I also set a goal of progressing my skills to an advanced level, in readiness to volunteer as a blood biker.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Much learned. Feeling safer and more skilled
Hearing of BikeSafe and how it’s seen as an essential stepping stone to advanced riding, I thought I’d give it a go. Today, having done the BikeSafe course, I’m already feeling more confident in my riding ability, also how to ride safer, which I feel is paramount when exposed to risk on our dangerous UK roads. The Devon and Cornwall BikeSafe team consisted of advanced police motorcyclists – all with a broad set of skills and experience.
Each area of riding a motorcycle that I wanted to improve was carefully observed, with comprehensive roadside debriefs and feedback on how better develop my riding skills. It’s a course I would recommend to all motorcyclists who wish to be safer on their motorbike and to gain more enjoyment on two-wheels. Next will be my advanced riding course, which now I feel more confident about. Many thanks to Devon and Cornwall Police and their excellent BikeSafe team. Thoroughly enjoyed. Much learned. Feeling safer and more skilled. A valuable and fun day with advanced police motorcyclists. Ready to take it to the next level with an advanced riding qualification. Watch this space.
All the best,
