Gloucestershire Police offer women only taster
To show their support for International Women’s Day, PC Peter Stone at Gloucestershire Police has organised a free-of-charge WOMEN ONLY BikeSafe event on Sunday 8th March at Completely Motorbikes (Meteor Park, Gloucester). This ‘exclusively for female motorcycle riders’ mini-BikeSafe offers x2 one-hour taster sessions where riders will have the opportunity to experience the value of seeing ‘their ride’ through the eyes of a Police Motorcyclist.
PC Peter Stone commented, “Throughout the UK, a growing trend is the number of Women who are taking their full motorcycle licence and International Women’s Day is the ideal opportunity for us to show our local support to this safety conscious rider group. The last year has seen a number of dedicated Women Only BikeSafe events and we hope that this free-of-charge taster session will encourage more of Gloucestershire’s female motorcyclists to come and meet us and to see the value of investing in a full BikeSafe workshop.”
“Bikesafe provides a highly subsidised way for motorcyclists to improve their riding, further understand hazards on the roads and receive feedback on their riding which will hopefully prevent them from being involved in an accident. Throughout all of our workshops we have found that female motorcyclists are hugely underrepresented and I feel that we should try and do more to break down barriers and stereotypes sometimes associated with motorcycling, and reach out to this underrepresented group.”
“Our thanks to Completely Motorbikes have been very supportive of this event, with the use of their showroom and the provision of refreshments.”
This and other Gloucestershire BikeSafe workshops can be booked online: here
