Isle of Man BikeSafe

Isle of Man BikeSafe aims to provide a relaxed, informative and fun day, on what is arguably the best biking destination in the world, helping to develop your riding skills. BikeSafe is run by Police motorcyclists who are passionate about all things motorbikes and are committed to improving motorcycle safety for everyone.

BikeSafe is a nationally run scheme for bikers run by the Police. BikeSafe was set up in the early 2000’s with now, 37 forces across the UK and Ireland delivering BikeSafe workshop. The idea is to help improve on observation and skill, making your riding safer and enjoyable.  The workshop is delivered in a relaxed environment with a warm welcome guaranteed, every time. Whether you are new to biking, reliving your youth or have be riding for years, as long as you hold a full driving licence, all are welcome.  We hope that partaking in a BikeSafe workshop inspires you to take up more advance training in order to be safer riders.

We look forward to riding with you soon!

Workshop information

As we begin our Bikesafe journey on the Isle of Man, workshops are limited to 4 riders per session, initially. Our workshops are open to all types of rider with a full motorcycle licence. The doors open at 9.00am for free tea/coffee and biscuits, the classroom element starts at 9.30am prompt and the day finishes around 3.00pm. We ride in almost any weather except thick fog, ice or snow. Please ensure you have a full tank of fuel and either bring your own packed lunch or funds to buy your own food later in the day.

The workshop then starts with a relaxed classroom session, delivered by one of our Police motorcyclists. You are positively encouraged to take part and share your experiences and knowledge. We will discuss advanced riding skills and techniques based on the police manual of riding (Roadcraft), motorcycle control and some of the common causes of crashes. There will be a short break between sessions for more tea/coffee and comfort breaks.

This is then followed by a ride out with one of our Police motorcyclists. During the ride out your observer will give you advice on how to improve your skills. The ride outs usually last for up to 3 hours, this includes breaks for debriefs and a grub break. The lunch break is usually at a local cafe or you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.

The day concludes with a full debrief from your observer. You will be given a certificate of attendance and a goody bag of biking related items. If for an unforeseen reason the workshop day has to be cancelled by us you will be given as much notice as possible and either an alternative date will be offered to you or a full refund given.

At this time ‘R’ plate restricted riders wont be permitted to partake in a BikeSafe workshop. There may be consideration in the future to run ‘R’ plate rider days.
