The BikeSafe team in Northern Ireland work closely with local public and private sector organisations that have a vested interest in motorcycle safety. One of the first local businesses to come on board with PSNI BikeSafe was Phillip McCallen Motorcycles.
With 11 TT victories, 5 wins at the North West 200 and 5 wins in one day at the Ulster Grand Prix, Phillip McCallen knows a thing or two about bikes! Ahead of the International North West 200 Phillip is continuing to support BikeSafe by supplying display bikes from Phillip McCallen Motorcycles for the PSNI BikeSafe stand at Metropole Corner. If you’re attending the NW200 this year call into the stand for a closer look at the machines on display, a chat with the BikeSafe team and even sign up for a BikeSafe workshop with any of the participating Police forces.
Be more vigilant than ever for motorcyclists
In the run up to the International North West 200 police are also keen to remind all road users to be more vigilant than ever for motorcyclists. The event attracts huge numbers of bikers from across these islands and beyond so we can expect many more motorcycles on the roads of Northern Ireland over the next couple of weeks. Also we would like to remind riders to keep the race in its place and not to be tempted to emulate the professional racers on the public road. Police will be patrolling the northwest area in greater numbers during Race Week and will be doing everything they can to ensure a successful, safe 2019 International North West 200.
