Regular stops, roadside debriefs and positive constructive feedback helped me to relax
Already putting into practice the skills and knowledge
I attended the BikeSafe workshop with the intention of helping me to gain more confidence and further knowledge to improve my riding skills. I would like to thank Chris and the other police officers from Devon & Cornwall Police and the BikeSafe team. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. It was fun, informative, and I learnt so much. Without a doubt this skills workshop has improved my confidence and I am already putting into practice the skills and knowledge I have learnt.
Motorcycle roadcraft was informative and engaging
The morning session consisted of presentations from the police BikeSafe team – all interactive, relaxed and done very well. We learnt a lot from the motorcycle roadcraft, which was informative, engaging and had very good content focusing on hazard awareness, positioning, speed and the use of video presentations demonstrating safe and effective riding was spot on.
Regular stops and debriefs helped with my nerves
In the afternoon I had an observed ride with Chris and the ratio of 1 to 2 was perfect. Although I was nervous, with regular stops, roadside debriefs and positive constructive feedback – all helping me to relax, focus and learn. It is amazing how much an observed ride by a professional rider can help you – their feedback is valuable and I learnt so much.
It’s also great putting into practice what you learn and although you are observed , you can take in so much more when you follow and can observe the observer. It’s great that you receive an overall assessment by a professional on your riding, their feedback, recommendations, helpful tips and their knowledge that they share is priceless.
It would be great to see more women taking part
I thoroughly recommend any rider of any age, whether you have just passed your test or have been riding for years, this BikeSafe course is brilliant and I can guarantee you will enjoy and learn so much. It would be great to see more women taking part as I was the only one attending my workshop Come on girls, just do it.
Personally I would like to give thanks again to Devon & Cornwall Police for their time, effort and for sharing their expert knowledge and the BikeSafe team for making this course a fun, enjoyable and superb day. I learned so much about my own riding, the feedback was invaluable and I’m already feeling more confident, feeling safer and the skills and knowledge I have learnt I am now using when I am riding. It was a brilliant day, many thanks!
