Fun in the sun at North Wales workshops
Well I am late for the North Wales Police July post and no pictures of dogs or Puffin’s this time! July was a busy month with two workshops and attending MotoFest Ty Croes.
The first workshop was delivered by our presenter Sgt Medwyn Williams at Pwllheli Fire Station on 5 July. It was a busy group with a lot of discussions and chats from the attendees. We had great weather and the afternoon assessed ride was supported by Insp Leigh Evans, our BikeSafe leader, along with Sgt Chris Evens and the NWP BikeSafe volunteers. Riding round the Pwllheli area is a great experience and the attendees got a lot from the day.
The second workshop was at NWP Force HQ in Colwyn Bay on 18 July. This was a smaller group and, for once, the back-up plan to the back-up plan failed (operational priorities) and our long serving Lead BikeSafe Volunteer Kev Shenton stepped in and ran the morning session. Kev was ably supported by the BikeSafe volunteers. Like Pwllheli, the morning session was lively with interesting discussions and everyone enjoyed the afternoon assessed ride. Just a great area to ride in.
The final activity for the month was being the face of BikeSafe at MotoFest Ty Croes. It was a busy three days with all the variations of weather that Anglesey (or to say it properly, Ynys Môn) can throw at you. The team had busy periods during the sun – it helps if you have a BikeSafe gazebo so strangely it was also busy during the rain!
August is our stand down month for BikeSafe over the Summer with workshops kicking off again on 6 September at Llay (Wrexham) and our final workshop of the season on 23 September at Bangor Fire Station. Both workshops are now fully booked.
It’s great to see the continued numbers attending BikeSafe workshops and the continued commitment from NWP officers and volunteers to make it not only informative as a stepping stone to further training if riders wish, but also that they tell other riders to sign up for a workshop.
