Nick Adderley 2021 roundup
Last year I stated that 2021 would see us overcome, adapt and innovate and the national BikeSafe team certainly delivered in line with that prediction. In the ever-challenging quest of finding sufficient resources to deliver workshops and support events, it is testament to the teams commitment that an impressive 2500+ workshop places were filled, with most forces now being able to resume provision, albeit some in a limited capacity.
Take a moment to think about what that means: 2500+ riders that are better equipped through skill and confidence to become more responsible road users and more likely to take on post-test advanced training. That eventually equates to reduced KSI’s involving bikers with the welcomed financial savings to the public purse being a distant second to the benefit families feel by having their loved ones still with them as opposed to being killed or seriously injured.
The next iteration of our e-learning platform will begin to take shape in earnest during the first-half of 2022 and I am excited by the opportunities that a fully interactive, modern and responsive IT platform will bring to BikeSafe and associated programmes of activity. It truly is the basis upon which we will build the next chapter of our history and I know that the BikeSafe team will do everything to help support the slick and professional user experience that the platform brings.
I am more convinced than ever of our obligation to engage and upskill riders of all categories of motorcycles and we have seen the introduction of CourierSafe workshops in what will hopefully be a long and rewarding
collaboration with the gig-economy service providers. Although limited to one outlet at present, I have asked that efforts are made to encourage other providers to step up and provide the opportunities for their riders that Getir have so impressively done for their workforce. I do not underestimate the challenge that presents for us across the UK as it has taken many years to get us this far.
Whatever the festive period holds for you I wish you a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a prosperous New Year..
